“It’s no use complaining about your little aches and pains!”

Achievements Earned In:
- Vampire Survivors
- Defenders of Ardania

Hey look, Vampire Survivors is finished again. I figured I’d spend this week kinda relaxing and editing videos mostly, so I stretched out the remaining new update achievements as long as I could. But, I really didn’t have to try to do that much, since, unlike previous updates, the achievements in this one actually take time and effort, and even are a little challenging! Developer poncle added an “Adventure” mode a bit ago, but never added achievements for it…until now. In this mode, you have to start from scratch, only getting upgrades and new survivors within each separate campaign. The relevant achievements require you to “complete” two campaigns, and to get a “completion” you have to complete a checklist of various objectives (like “survive a level for 15 minutes” or “open the coffin in a level”). Of the two necessary campaigns, I think A Garlic Paradise was harder, because you start with pretty weak options, and it takes a little bit to get powered up enough to start rolling through it. It still wasn’t very difficult, but it was nice to actually have to really play the game for the first time since I started it. I even played a little “for fun”; many of the add-on licensed survivors don’t have related achievements. The rare game I really don’t mind having to return to now and then.

I. Am. Legally-distinct Bat-guy!

With Vampire Survivors knocked out again, it was time to put some actual effort into Defenders of Ardania. But, I was soon disappointed to learn that this isn’t quite the kind of tower defense I enjoy. I mean, I’ve played the typical ones (e.g. Defense Grid or Defense Technica) and more involved, action-y ones (e.g. Sanctum 2 or Orcs Must Die), but this is the first time where the opponent(s) is actively playing against you, making their own towers and you have to send your own mobs to take them out. It feels like playing multiplayer and I never liked that aspect of these types of games. Not the best foot to start on, but throughout the last few days of the week I at least didn’t run into much issue getting to the end of the campaign. The best strategy is to rush your “side” to the enemy’s, blocking them into their “safe” area and then spamming either Rogues or Wizards. I’m a little concerned with how obscure this game is that when I get to the Limited Resource mode I’m not gonna be able to find any strategies should I get stuck. Guess we’ll find out soon!
