I was away from home on Sunday, so I had to pick something to play before I went home that evening. Since I had my old touchscreen laptop with me, I thought I’d do something I hadn’t done in a while: play a Windows game! I have had Hitchhiker installed for a while, because it’s a game that’s easiest with a touchscreen. I knew nothing about the game, but the achievements are all obtainable and it didn’t sound hard, so I jumped in. The game is apparently a puzzle title where you use the eponymous travel method to reach the goal. There are even a few add-on achievements, but the grindiest of them seem to easily unlock during the tutorial if the game gives you the correct random character to play as. I haven’t even started the actual game yet, getting quite a few achievements in just the tutorial!

Oh look, another set of Minecraft achievements! Meaning I have to run through all three of the stacks I’ve started. First up was the Windows version, since that’s the platform I download the maps for. This new set of achievements seem to be tied to a Skulk Sensor and Allays, which seem to be little fairy creatures? Either way, you install a map and get the achievements in minutes.

Next was the Xbox version, which wasn’t any different. It did take me a couple minutes to get the Allay achievement to unlock, and I’m still not sure how I did, but it unlocked and I moved on.

And finally, the Android version! The hardest part of this version is always the touch controls, because I’m too lazy to grab my controller.

Alright, enough of that, back to Resident Evil 2 on Tuesday! It was time for my first playthrough as Claire, and now that I had a good feel for the game I jumped right into Hardcore and going for my speedrun. With my infinite rocket launcher in hand, it was really easy. I also did this on the B-version, so it was a little different and key items were in odd locations. But, no problem. She also has to deal with ole Mr. X less than Leon did, so that was a nice relief. Even with my devastating explosives, it’s just startling seeing that hulking figure wheel around a corner or through a door while I’m exploring. This left going back through on Leon’s side, this time on the B-route for him. I decided to also tie in my playthrough without using item boxes which meant… no more infinite weapons. I actually had to play the game like a normal! But, I made good progress and when I reached the sewers I got my last couple files (which, I was worried about), wrapping up the collectibles. I sadly had to stop once the week ended as I made my second-to-last trip up to visit my spouse. I’ll be wrapping this game up pretty quickly upon my return!

The scariest thing of all: talking on a telephone. To another person!
I decided I’d quickly do another easy game on Tuesday, just to get another completion on the pile. Without Escape seemed like the obvious choice. This is a pretty straightforward point and click puzzle title and takes around ten minutes to complete. I’m not even sure what in the world happened in the game besides wandering into some horror dimension or something. You find keys and random items to…destroy/save the universe. Weird.

Back at the beginning of June, it was announced that Super Bomberman R Online would be going offline. It was a free battle royale version of the classic Bomberman formula that seemingly just never took off. I knew of it, but never really heard much more about it. While the servers are barren, even worse is that to host a Private Match you have to have purchased a Premium Pass, which has now been delisted. Luckily, Martel18 from the AHA Discord offered to host a match using his Pass and it took almost no time to grab all the achievements. After I finished up I poked around the game and there are a bunch of cool Konami-themed skins for the characters. There’s even a Soma Bomber! Shame the game died.

The next game I was going to complete was Syrup and the Ultimate Sweet, which is another simple visual novel. The achievements only required you to see all ten endings to the story. Following a guide and turning up the dialogue skip makes this take about ten minutes. The story seems to involve a woman of science and them dealing with a disdain of magic, interrupted one day by a golem made of candy! Another real quick and easy one (and super cute).

Back up with my spouse, I needed a quick game to start. Being remote again, it had to be an Xbox Game Pass title. Well, since Last Stop is leaving at the end of the month, figured I’d start there. I quickly finished the prologue and called it a day. This is supposed to have a pretty good story, so hopefully it pays off.
