“At least she'll be occupied?”

I really, really enjoyed my time with Monster Train this week and the week prior, but I sadly finished my repeated adventures along the Hell Railway. Much of the week was spent just playing through the Standard Run mode to level up the clans. Playing the Community and Daily Challenges doesn’t give you any XP or Mastery, so you want to get through those achievements out of the way as efficiently as possible so you’re not wasting grinding time. But, that’s easily done with seeds you can find both on TrueAchievements and around the internet. Need to beat a run with no cards in your deck? Use “IrishOccurPraise”. Need to beat Daedalus before he reaches his combat phase? “TheoremIntegralHandbook” is what you need. And the nice thing is all spawns and routes and even draws will be the exact same if you follow a guide, so there is no difficulty getting these done. One problem is that having the DLC and future updates will mess with these seeds, so if you find an older one (Oct 2021 seems to be a good cutoff) be ready for any walkthroughs to be inaccurate. I saved a few of my runs over on my Twitch channel, so you can peek there if you want a video guide on some. The one true challenge in this game can be to score 50k or more on a Daily Challenge. You have to do everything perfectly (no damage to your Pyre, accept all challenges), but even then you may not score enough. To do THAT, you have to also kill one of the flying bosses before their combat phase, which can be extremely difficult without the exact right combination of cards. To make this part easy, too, just buy the Last Divinity add-on. This DLC adds another boss after Seraph, offering more points. There’s also the addition of the Pact Shards mechanic that increases points by a lot. Without the DLC you’ll often see people barely scraping to earn just over 50k. WITH the DLC, those scores jump to 80k, so you don’t even need to worry about damage to your Pyre or accepting every bonus challenge to get a really hefty score. My advice is to just spend the $10 USD and make it easier. I also didn’t mind giving them money as I enjoyed the game so much! I got that Daily Challenge achievement on Thursday (after trying without the DLC for a few days) and ended my time with the game. Shame!

With the end half of the month in full effect, the next batch of Xbox Game Pass games to leave the service in a few weeks was known. I wanted to knock one of them out and chose Yes, Your Grace, the easiest of them by far. I kinda knew what to expect since this is yet another game I’d tried with my alternate gamertag. It’s a management sim, where you rule over the kingdom of Davern and manage the needs of your people and family of five. It’s all fairly simple but the story and relationships King Eryk has with his kids and spouse really hold your interest. Obviously I was all in it for the achievements, but just playing you of course have to make some tough decisions as the monarch. I do wish the game let you make some game-ending choices. For instance, sure, I need an army to defend from invaders, but can’t I just tell the one other ruler that can help me to eff off when he makes demands? Instead the game kind of railroads you into making some form of choice in the affirmative. Replayability is sorta low, as between the two playthroughs needed for the achievements there’s little real difference. But, small complaints aside, this is a very fun (and easy and short) game that I recommend!

Sigh, oh look, more Human Fall Flat achievements. This time for a lumbermill stage, which was just like all the previous ones. Achievement-wise, as usual there’s a couple to do something particular, one that spans the whole stage, and one for completing the new stage. It only took about 40 minutes to finish and this went back in the pile. I’m glad the game is at least easy, but I hate having to return to games.
