Week of 16 Oct 2022
The focus this week was all on Asura’s Wrath, the very cool anime action game. Like, seriously, this could be an anime series and I’d never be able to differentiate it from other shonen shows: the character screams a lot, fights ever more powerful enemies, has an antagonistic rival that has a blue-colored aura, keeps powering up and gaining new forms… No, I’m not describing Dragon Ball Z because this one is mostly influenced by Hindu and Buddhist myth! The gameplay continued to be, well, there, mostly sprinkled amongst long dramatic cutscenes and QTEs. But I really enjoyed it and even on the fourth playthrough was still enjoying the fights. About those playthroughs, you have to do one on Normal to unlock the gauges needed for the next two, then those will unlock the gauge that makes the Hard playthrough a piece of cake. My third, the Mortal playthrough, was definitely the most difficult, what with the lack of health. Playing to survive definitely made me even better at the game and this made the final playthrough even easier. So easy, in fact, that when I finished my Hard run with full S-ranks I jumped right into the fourth Part of the story (the add-on) and easily started getting the needed ranks on most of them, first try, on Hard. Now, all I have left is the last few episodes and the “lost episodes”, which I’m hearing might be annoyingly difficult compared to the rest of the game. I’m… hoping that’s untrue.

Sigh. Alright, more Human Fall Flat. I remember when this game was first available how novel and fun it was, with the ragdoll physics and such. Well, let me just say, that time has passed. I’m very over the whole thing and was not looking forward to coming back to this game when the new “Tower” level was added earlier this month. I was holding off, but then my spouse and I had to head back to Mayo Clinic for two days this week, so I decided to use this to extend my streak. It was fairly straightforward, but the final section gave me trouble. Honestly, not a whole lot, but my patience had run thin. Done, again. I’m sure I’ll be back.
