This was a pretty sparse gaming week, as I was going on vacation out-of-state for most of it. It was for this reason I started something kinda lite in the form of Cross Channel, one of the few Japanese visual novels in my possession I have left. Anyone that has played these kinds of games know what I mean: you just follow a guide and click the options it tells you and soon you have the completion all wrapped up. Some may have a wrinkle or two on the way to finishing it up, and this can get complicated if you mess up if, like me, you don’t speak/read Japanese. For this game in particular, unlike most, it’s actually fairly linear, and the forks in narrative aren’t as drastic in other games. This is likely due to the game’s main hook being the timeloop you find yourself in. To get the “endings”, you have to make 1-2 choices that leads down a path to free a particular character from the loop, getting you an achievement and setting you back to the beginning. The main issue here is the achievement for selecting every choice in the game. I’m sure there’s a guide specifically for this Xbox version, but I’m following a Steam one that seems to be close enough. Course, since their list doesn’t appear to include the achievement in question, I may have to do some cleanup later on. But, since I was not in any rush to finish this I let it play itself often on Auto (for content) and just checked in when I needed to make a selection. I managed to get a lot of it done, but then I was on the road and opted to not take any consoles with me.
As for the story itself, I can’t read Japanese. But from the scenes in the game and some translations I’ve seen online, this is not a happy fun game. There’s sexual assault, murder, suicide, and just all the trauma. Fun fun.

So, I figured since I needed a nice easy game to continue my streak while I’m on vacation, why not use the already-started A Little to the Left? I also still have to do the Daily Tidy for another 1.5 weeks, so it all works out. I just jump on, complete the daily, then play the main game until an achievement pops before turning it off for the next day. It’s such a cute little game, and the initial puzzles in Chapter 1 are way easier than even the Daily Tidy, so I’m breezing through them.
