Chapter 6 of Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition took place mostly in the same city, with plenty to get me through the week. After all that, you’re taken to another Astral fight where you have to nail all of the QTEs for an achievement. Almost got it first try, but my touchpad stopped working at the second-to-last QTE and cost me that attempt. But, second time was the charm and everything worked great. I moved to Chapter 7 on Wednesday, and this one ends with a pain of a boss in any Final Fantasy game: the Malboro. For this fight, I have to both finish it off with a fire attack and avoid the “bad breath” attack. I managed to get the latter only, because it was the more annoying of the two and I was really struggling with the camera; I kept getting stuck against the wall and violated with Malboro’s breath. But, I got it and turned the game off to conserve my checkpoint at the beginning of the fight. Nearing the end…I still remember starting this game while sitting next to my spouse at the hospital. I’m not sure how I feel about playing or finishing it. Bittersweet, I suppose…

I felt a little…motivated this week, so I decided to jump into Max Payne 3. Not to do anything very demanding, as I’m not quite there yet, but I did knock out the last couple Grinds I needed. Namely, I had the one for sniper kills, shotgun kills, melee kills, and fall kills remaining. Using the various guides on TA I was easily able to pinpoint the correct checkpoints to load to make each easy/quick enough. Took an hour or two and I had that all done. All that’s left are the other runs I need (namely, New York Minute Hardcore) and I’m not trying that until I’m feeling better. I wanna stream those attempts, and getting on stream and trying to act normal right now feels almost offensive to my spouse’s memory…though she’d be pushing me to, anyway.

With the Max Payne Grinds out of the way, I thought it wouldn’t hurt the ole brain to jump into Phantasy Star Online 2, which got updated again a few days after Electrinity’s death. I obviously was in no state of mind to tackle it, but I took a peek this week. Seems it’s mostly an increased level cap, some tougher endgame enemies, and a new Creative Space you can customize for…reasons. Either way, there’s an achievement tied to each of these additions! The one for the new mode was easy enough, as just entering the area unlocks that one. Next was hitting the new level cap of 75, which, since I was level 20 due to the first game’s update, would take a fair bit of time to reach…so instead I just used ARKS Cash (AC) to level up to level 70. What’s $10 when I can save so much time? From there it doesn’t take long to hit level 75 using missions available to you, which even for just going from point A to point B gives ungodly amounts of EXP. The final achievement is for fighting a new really powerful enemy, Herzig. It only spawns in the high-level, endgame version of Mt. Magnus, so I needed to reach 3119 Combat Power to unlock that option. To quickly level up, I finished the Creative Spaces tutorial, which unlocks a new shop where you can purchase some high level armor. Upgrading those and purchasing a high-level weapon from the personal shops pushed me just past the required amount, so I headed to Mt. Magnus to PSE Burst grind…but managed to find the enemy on my first one! He was very tough and actually killed me, but as I died the achievement unlocked so that’s good enough for me! And that’s this dusted for the fifth time. Ugh.
