With Anthem’s Javelins packed up and put away forever, it was time to focus on Nexomon! As I’ve stated before, this is a pretty shameless Pokemon rip-off with a very sophomoric story. Like, I rolled my eyes so many times at the lame dialogue and just how cookie-cutter it all was. And often things would just happen or the annoying (and annoyingly self-aware) robot would suggest the obvious next game-step and off we’d go. It just all felt silly. The combat is similarly simplistic, with some of the match typing of Pokemon, but the damage monsters give and take sometimes seems really arbitrary. Achievement-wise, it’s extremely straightforward, and you have to catch all the monsters and fight all the peoples. I quickly designed a spreadsheet that allows me to enter the zone/screen you’re in and it will list the Nexomon found there and whether you’ve caught them or not. My playthrough consisted of my entering a zone, checking my spreadsheet, and staying there until I’d caught all non-evolved Nexomon. I’d also catch the evolved forms if I ran into them, but I didn’t make it a priority. I’d also defeat every monster I ran into, which was GREAT for leveling. If a team member hit the end of their evolutionary chain I’d head back to the Healing Center and switch out for another. But, I’d suggest not going hard on leveling specifically because right before the end section you get an Exp Multiplier that shares the experience from combat to the rest of the team, allowing for a leveling/evolution bonanza. During my playthrough the lead of my team ended up being Raamu, the Super Rare normal-type. Did anything draw me to this Nexomon? Nope. It just ended up being the highest level on my team and I used it to protect the other, weaker ones that I was leveling. Worked out great, and as of now it’s at level 92. Next strongest is 76, so it’s easily clearing any bosses I fight. Speaking of fighting, I am right before the final section of the game, the Nexolord Tower, so I’m sure I’ll have my campaign completed by next entry. I even caught the roaming Legendary, so that’ll help. And I’m down to only 15 Nexomon needed. Should be fully complete, too!

I jumped quickly into Minecraft on Monday because I needed an achievement for the day. Literally opened the game on Switch, opened the inventory, turned the game off.

Recently, it was announced by EA that they would be shutting down the servers for four of their games, one of which is Mercenaries 2: World in Flames. I have been trying to play this game for years, since it was one of the very first games I purchased for my Xbox 360 back in 2010. I always thought I needed a co-op partner due to the way the achievement list reads, but this week I found out that the achievements don’t really work well in cooperative play! Yeah, there are a couple co-op-only ones, but most are easy to do alone. That’s dumb and means I could have started this forever ago! And that’s ignoring how much of a pain it was to get it working for ValakC to start. Apparently, the handshake with the EA server can’t really be completed in some of their games anymore, so you have to load up one of those that can before trying. For our playtime, he loaded up Battlefield: Bad Company (thanks EA Play/Game Pass) and that fixed it…mostly. The game’s multiplayer still doesn’t work great, so it took us a few tries to finally get into the same game. But after all that it didn’t take long until we realized we’d have to play the game alone anyway! With no rush, I’m just putting this back onto the backburner until I mop up more of these Bean Dive games I started.

I jumped into Demetrios - The BIG Cynical Adventure on Thursday and Friday as my spouse had another couple visits up to Mayo Clinic, which is a long two hour drive each way. I ended up being overly cautious, as I easily got achievements in Nexomon, too. But, hey, better safe than sorry.
