All Sunday was just about surviving for 7 days in Dead Rising, which was definitely still not really “hard” as it was just boring. You have to do this in one go, sitting in Willamette Mall for a whopping 14 hours straight. Even worse, for some reason, but body decided I didn’t need any effing sleep so I went to sleep at 1 AM and… woke up at 4 AM and just could not get back to sleep. By 6 AM I’d decided this was a futile effort and got up to begin the run. Back in the day when I did this on the Xbox 360, I found this random website by DrNewcenstein that was for a “non-confrontational” method to get this achievement, laying out all the routes and weapons and food you should be taking advantage of to get through your 7 days without fighting really anything besides zombies (and the convicts in the park, which can’t really be avoided). This was long enough ago that the site is long gone, but luckily someone over on Reddit was kind enough to post the guide there! Using the Real Mega Buster mostly, I ran around using the old guide as a base, while murdering any psychopaths/survivors I would be told to specifically avoid. And… yeah, you run around and make sure you eat every 20 minutes or so until the seventh day ends and you’re done! I can’t express how hard it was to stay awake through this, but I’m glad I now have every completable game in the series done! Bring on the Deluxe Remaster!

Monday it was back to normal achievement hunting (after some rest) and wrapping up A Short Hike. My main goal was to find the final Golden Feathers I needed, which also included wrapping up some other miscellaneous achievements around the island. It didn’t take long to grab the few I hadn’t obtained yet, but the one that had me searching for a bit turned out to be the reward for the treasure hunt maps I had been ignoring the entire game. What a cute game! I’m glad I got around to it before it left the Game Pass library.

Speaking of games leaving Game Pass, I also made it a point to get around to Venba. It’s a very short narrative-driven cooking game about how food can connect one with their culture and heritage. It’s heartfelt and bittersweet, and most importantly an easy and straightforward completion. My main suggestion is don’t play this when you’re hungry, or you’ll be craving oothappam and biriyani and other Tamil cuisine before long.

So, on Tuesday of this week I was off on another adventure to Florida for a week or so. I decided, instead of playing some new game on Cloud and moping it up later, I’d just play Minecraft on Nintendo Switch. Since I hadn’t really made much effort to complete the game beforehand, I had plenty of achievements to unlock by jumping on early in the day during the vacation before moving on with my day.
