- Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan
I’m sure this will lessen as the weeks go on, but Phasmophobia (with investigators TommyToday and Gh0st Who Walks) is still being worked on nightly. There’s truly not a whole lot to talk about here. You walk into a location, detect the ghost, and deduce what kind they are. We’ve gotten really good at it, so it’s practically just a 5-minute Skinner box of experience as I work towards my three prestiges. I read there are updates coming (the game is still in Game Preview after all) so maybe the monotony will get broken up with some new content sooner rather than later. Though, honestly, I’m still having fun regardless! The big development this week was escaping a Revenant-type ghost, which I’d actually done a few weeks prior but it didn’t count for whatever reason. It worked this week, though barely.

As the weeks go on, I’m really putting in the effort to actually wrap up Palworld for now. I’d assume we’ll be getting more achievements with the massive content drop coming in the next few weeks, but it’s not for sure! At least I’ll have new Pals and such to mess with while I work on the remaining achievements I have, which is mostly just the Sakurajima tower boss, all the bosses over again on Hard, and raiding the oil rig. Honestly, not difficult, but most free time is spent hunting ghosts, or saving the rainbow (more on that in a minute).

Speaking of updates, all the versions of Minecraft got one! They’ve added a new biome and inhabitants, but it was nice of them to only add a single achievement to each list. Even better, you can obtain the achievement using only a seed! Takes about three minutes on each stack, so I used the achievements where I needed throughout the week to keep my streak while being social or playing Phasmophobia all night. I unlocked the one on the Xbox version on Wednesday, which I only did so I could make a video quick about it. I jumped on my daughter’s Switch on Thursday before heading to a board of realtors holiday/charity dinner, though that version is still very much incomplete. And, finally, I updated and loaded up the Windows stack on Friday so I could just focus on grinding ghost xp all night. That just leaves the Android one, but I’ll keep it in my back pocket as BlueMelodia and I hit the road later this week for a few days on The Third Coast and I might need it for the streak.

As we rolled into December, of course the list of games leaving the Xbox Game Pass library was released. I hadn’t initially planned on bothering trying to do any of them, but I stayed home Wednesday to recover from an illness I picked up and suddenly had a whole day with nothing to do. I should have been sleeping (and I was so tired…) but instead Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan was calling my name. It’s also very chill, so I didn’t have to exactly exert myself or anything. This game has you exploring islands drained of color and recruiting Friends to stop the toxic behavior and attitudes spreading across the world. This is accomplished by using dialogue and color choices to help the denizens face their insecurities! It’s super cute and funny watching them “transform” from intimidating foes to cutesy companions, but if you’re one of those weirdos that use the term “woke” you’re probably gonna haaate this one. There’s some minor puzzle solving and platforming to be had, but it’s honestly very easy and simple overall. The achievements are also straightforward, though you’ll have to collect every friend and level a good majority of them to level 3. To do this, you have to give them requested items (x2) and gummies. You could technically do this with only gummies caught and bought, but you get far more progress when you give them what they ask for, so it’s definitely beneficial to grab any gifts you find during your travels. I’ve completed the room of friends for the first area, Dinoland, so I’m making good progress! Hopefully I don’t face much of a grind at the end as I enter the final area.
