I started the week getting one of the main missable achievements in Fuga: Melodies of Steel, setting me up for success in getting the final one at the end of the game. You have to complete the game with all of the kids alive, and this is simple enough to do as long as you don’t use the Soul Cannon (the weapon that requires a child’s soul and one-hit kills any boss). The one complication is Britz, who joins the team in Chapter 7. If he does not have an Affinity level of 2 with the rest of the crew, he dies in Chapter 11, and this counts against you for the final achievement! But I kept that kid happy and he helped me wreck the final boss, which was ridiculously easy. I’m kinda surprised how easy the entire game was, honestly. Sadly, it is impossible to finish in a single playthrough, so I began my second on Sunday directly after finishing the first. This playthrough was all about leveling up the characters to level 50 the best I could by having them fight, sleep in the dormitory, and fight some more. To help with affinity, I’d make sure that I ventured away from my main pairs and set the kids up in low-affinity teams. I also wanted to make sure I got late-game characters (like Britz and Wappa) to level 50 to save as much of a third playthrough as I could. And, I managed to get all but three of the kids to level 50, so my third (partial) run was just getting those kids leveled and the 30 affinity pairs. I thought I had to level up all the relationships, but there are 66 pairs total amongst the kids, so you only need less than half! All-in-all, this isn’t a very difficult completion, and the subsequent playthroughs are much shorter. Still drags at the end, though!

I also spent my time at home this week finishing up Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Anniversary Edition. I only needed a final pass through School Mode to get the remaining endings I was missing, and that didn’t take too long; all my characters were fully leveled in collecting (except for my cleaners, Hifumi and Chihiro) and easily cleared all the objectives Monokuma presented. With that done, I had Monday night and some of Tuesday to try my hand at getting the remaining presents I needed from the MonoMono Machine. The nice thing about that was I could kinda zone out and watch TV while inserting coins. The final thing I had to do for the completion was clearing 500 white noise lines, which was easy enough by loading up the class trial on Chapter 5 and getting to the third non-stop debate. There is a good sequence of white noise lines to shoot, letting the sequence loop until you have all you need. Takes about 20 minutes from zero! And that wrapped up my time at Hope’s Peak Academy.

With Danganronpa completed, I really needed to get back to Lords of the Fallen. I was now past the first boss, and continued to slowly make my way through…wherever it is. I have not been paying any attention to the storyline happening around me, preferring to just go and kill the things that need killing. The game is hard, but in that way that all “Souls-like” games are meant to be, so I’m not too bothered by it. Per the TA walkthrough, I was focusing on being a walking tank, able to take a hit and dole out the pain before dying. And…yeah, that’s more or less how I handle every encounter. It’s not exactly a notable experience so far, honestly. I’m not seeing the appeal yet. Guess we’ll see!
